FIGAROS
In Havana there are barbers and hairdressers in every street, located in tiny shops that are often part of their houses. They are frequently run by very young men who recommend and realize very elaborate and bizarre hair cuts and styles for a few pesos. Displaying extremely accurate and shaped hair seems to be part of the cult of their body the Cubans show and their need to stand out, be the focus of people’s attention and have a very high opinion of themselves. Perhaps it’s a way to establish their own individuality in a context where many aspects of life are managed by the State.
